What are DMASs?

They are systems in which agents (people or devices) interact with each other independently, based on their own history and what is happening in the environment. Each agent has its own information so there is no need for a consensus mechanism as in traditional Blockchain systems, where a single version of the truth is managed. Each agent has its own capabilities, and the interaction of several of them generates a complex system, which is an entity in itself (called a community or organism) with its own capabilities based on the sum of all the agents that compose it, with its own behavioral patterns and with its own norms. Let's say that DMASs emulate the behavior of nature. These systems natively meet the requirements that an identity management system needs. Each agent owns her identity and her keys, she can encrypt and sign her data, and share it with whomever she wants. The applications that are developed in these systems (in Holochain they are called hApps), provide the agents with new functionalities and define the rules that are applied when an agent interacts with the rest within the framework of that application. In this way, an agent can expand its functionalities within a decentralized ecosystem by incorporating numerous applications according to its preference. Each agent has her own installation of each application she uses, but it is not limited by the characteristics of her device or devices, since a decentralized infrastructure can be used to expand her computing capabilities (storage, processing, and communication mainly).
Holochain Ecosystem at a High LevelIt is important to note that DMASs do not require the use of a token. An agent-oriented community can function with the voluntary contribution of all parties without requiring a token, and it will be the governance mechanisms that provide the best results that will end up proliferating to the greatest extent.
